Lisa Webskowski received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design from St. Cloud State University, Minnesota in 1993. She was fortunate to study life drawing with acclaimed airbrush artist Jerry Ott, and art history with art historian Dr. Rena N. Coen. Coen was author of “Minnesota Impressionists”, “The Paynes, Edgar and Elsi: American Artists”, and countless other publications. The skills and knowledge acquired from these educators proved to be an integral part of Lisa’s artistic style and vision for the future of her portrait work. Before pursuing portraiture, Lisa spent several years working as a graphic artist, illustrator and police composite artist. Some of her most rewarding work came from her devotion to police composite sketches. She worked as a freelance composite artist for eleven years. Using her talent to help victims of violent crime was a priority in the artists’ life. She worked on cases for several law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Over the years, Lisa has had the opportunity to attend workshops and course instruction including “Composite Drawing for Law Enforcement”, Stuart Parks Forensic Consultants, 1996, “Drawing With the Masters,” Charles Kapsner, 2002, and “Paint Along With the Artist”, Bela Petheo, 2002. Currently, Lisa works at her home studio as a portrait artist and a freelance illustrator for Minnesota Moments magazine. Minnesota Moments is a unique, creative and informative lifestyle magazine highlighting the people and places of Minnesota. She enjoys illustrating articles from some of the best freelance authors in the state. Her work with the magazine encourages her to constantly explore new ideas. Her illustrations have appeared both on the inside and cover of the magazine. It is Lisa’s love of drawing people that has evolved
into her pursuit of colored pencil portraiture. She has applied the experiences
and knowledge of the past 15 years to her current work. She has relied
on the art history education to examine poses, color schemes and composition.
She has traveled to Florence, Italy to see for herself how the masters
solved the same artistic questions she has encountered. She has learned
how to listen to her client’s concerns and artistic needs. Her love
of drawing and her attention to detail is a perfect match for her work
in colored pencil. |
